MaHRTI's virtual courses are open to anyone, anywhere, any time! In-person training can generally only be provided within the state of Maryland to organizations serving Marylanders.
No, all MaHRTI training and technical assistance is available at no cost.
MaHRTI offers virtual and in-person courses. Prescheduled courses are almost always virtual. In-person courses are typically offered in response to a technical assistance request. If your group, organization, or workplace would like to request in-person training, submit a Technical Assistance request.
MaHRTI offers pre-scheduled courses in virtual format. Virtual courses may be 1) live/synchronous (instructor and trainees on the virtual call at the same time); 2) self-paced/on-demand (trainees complete independently at their own pace); or 3) include a combination of self-paced modules and live sessions.
According to the CDC, "Technical assistance, also known as “TA”...is the process of providing targeted support to an organization with a development need or problem. It is an effective method for building the capacity of an organization." MaHRTI provides TA on harm reduction topics to organizations and individuals in Maryland. Most of MaHRTI's TA requests are resolved by 1) providing customized training; 2) sharing an explanation, information, or resources; or 3) referring the requester to an entity with the necessary expertise.
Submit a TA request by clicking on "Technical Assistance" at the top of our website and completing the form linked on our TA page. You may also contact us by email at [email protected].

When a MaHRTI course contains a live session, the Zoom link to join can be found on the website course page approximately 24 hours before the start time of the live session. Trainees will not be admitted to the Zoom room until the live session start time. Live courses start promptly, so be sure to log into your MaHRTI.org account, find the Zoom link, and click to join a few minutes early. Live session reminders with the Zoom link will also be sent via email one day beforehand.
Remember to log in to your MaHRTI.org account, enroll in the course, and complete any applicable pre-tests. There may be pre-requisite requirements to complete before the Zoom link is available.
All virtual MaHRTI courses offer certificates of completion. These must be downloaded from the course page in your MaHRTI.org training account. Completion certificates may be available for in-person training. Inquire by emailing [email protected].
CEUs are available for some courses. Course descriptions indicate whether or not CEUs are offered. If CEUs are offered, trainees who complete all requirements (including completing all course modules) will receive a CEU certificate via email approx. two weeks after the live training date.
Most, but not all, live training sessions are recorded and posted to the MaHRTI website. To find a recording, you must be enrolled in the course and have completed any pre-requisite requirements, such as a welcome module and/or pre-test. Recordings are available in the course page to enrolled trainees approximately one week after the live training.
